Types of computes
Computers are classified on three grounds
- Based on mechanism
- Based on purpose
- Based on size
Based on mechnism
These are categorized into three parts based on functionalities analog, digital and hybrid.
- Analog computer
Analog computers force information or process handling for example, temperature, pressure, and so on. Analog computers were the first computer machines developed and were the most complex machines for analog computing and process control. Analog data is not discrete, but is continuous in nature. Examples of such data are pressure, temperature, voltage, speed, and weight. An analog computer uses constant values and not discrete values. Because of this, processes with analog computers cannot be repeated to obtain accurate equivalent results. Unlike digital computers, analog computers are immune to quantization noise. Some common computing elements found in analog computers are function generators, integrators, compactors, and multipliers. Depending on the application, other special components may also be used. Programming on an analog computer involves transforming the problem equation into an analog computer circuit. There are some advantages associated with analog computers. Real-time operation and simultaneous calculations are possible with the help of analog computers. Analog computers can provide information about problems and errors in case of analog problems for users. The computer of the modern era makes every human task very simple and easy
